What we collect and why

When you browse this website

This website has no account sign-up, contact form or newsletter form. It does not ask for your name, email address or payment details. It does collect the following automatically:

Usage information, through Google Analytics. The pages you view, the site that sent you here, your browser and device type, your approximate location (city or region, worked out from your IP address), and whether you select a booking, phone, email or map link. We use it to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
Advertising information, through Sojern. Sojern is an advertising company for the travel industry. It uses cookies and similar identifiers to record visits to our pages, so that we can show ads for the inn on other websites and measure how those ads perform. Sojern works with advertising partners, which may include Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Adform, and those partners may set their own cookies. This information identifies a browser or device, not you by name.
Technical information, through Cloudflare and our web server. Your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. Cloudflare may set a cookie that is needed for security.
Settings saved in your browser. Whether you have closed the cookie notice, and your privacy choices. These stay on your device.

When you book or contact us

Reservations. When you book online or by phone we collect your name, contact details, stay dates, number of guests, room type, any requests you make, and payment card details. At check-in we ask for a valid ID and a credit card. We use this information to make and manage your reservation, take payment, provide your stay, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Online reservations are made on our reservation provider's website; payment card details are entered there, not on this website.
Calls and emails. If you call or email us, we use what you tell us to answer you.

Companies that work for us: Google (analytics), Cloudflare (website delivery and security), and our reservation, property management and payment providers.
Advertising partners: Sojern and the partners it works with, as described above.
Authorities and others, when the law requires it or when it is needed to protect our guests, our staff or our rights.
A new owner, if the inn or its business is sold or transferred.

We do not sell personal information for money. Using advertising cookies to show you our ads on other websites may count as "sharing" personal information under California law. You can turn this off under Your privacy choices.

Google, Sojern and Sojern's advertising partners may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites when you use this website.

In the terms California law uses, the categories we collect are identifiers (such as name, email address, phone number, IP address and cookie identifiers), customer records (such as payment card and ID details), commercial information (your reservations), internet activity on this website, and approximate location. We collect them for the purposes described above. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

To make a request, email [email protected] or call (831) 624-1900. We will ask for enough detail to confirm who you are, such as the details of a reservation, and we will respond within the time the law requires. Someone you have authorized in writing may make a request for you.

California residents may also ask, once a year, whether we have disclosed personal information to other companies for their own direct marketing.

How long we keep information

We keep reservation and payment records for as long as we need them for your stay and for our accounting, tax and legal obligations. Analytics and advertising information is kept by the companies named above according to their own retention settings. We keep emails for as long as we need them to deal with your request.

Security

This website is served over an encrypted connection, and we limit access to reservation information to the people and providers who need it. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot promise that it will never be accessed improperly.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Visitors from outside the United States

We are located in California. Information collected through this website and for reservations is processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. The date shows when it was last updated.
